English Name: Szechwan Lovage Rhizome (Chuanxiong)
Botanical Name:Ligusticum wallichii Franch. 
Used Part:dried rhizome of Ligusticum Chuanxiong Hort. (Fam. Umbelliferae).



Meridian Tropism:

liver, gall bladder, and pericardium.


Functions:

  Activate blood and circulate qi;

  Expel wind and relieve pain;

  Tranquilize and allay excitement;  

  Expand coronary artery and strengthen coronary blood flow;

  Increase cerebral blood flow and relieve encephaledema; 

  Control platelet agglutination and inhibit thrombosis;

  Expand peripheral blood vessels and reduce blood pressure;

  Antiradiation function and bacteriostasis.
